Job Description

Pacific Academy is seeking passionate and qualified individuals for a part-time 0.4 FTE Behavioral Interventionist position.

OVERVIEW

The Behavioral Interventionist’s focus is on supporting students in their physical, social and emotional growth which ultimately impacts their spiritual wholeness and academic success at school. Grounded in the belief that all children, regardless of abilities or limitations, are created in the image of God and should be given every opportunity to grow and develop their God-given abilities, the Behavioral Interventionist’s role is to help all children flourish. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to implement behavioral strategies, provide direct support to students, and help foster a positive school climate.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work collaboratively and cooperatively with all members of the educational team
• Attend School-based team meetings, as needed
• Understand the role and responsibilities of the Behavioural Interventionist, and how that role fits in the broader school community
• Maintain confidentiality regarding all information according to PIPA
• Follow appropriate protocols to report disclosures of child abuse or peer safeguarding
• Provide targeted one-on-one or group support to students with social, emotional and behavioural concerns
• Support students with behavioral challenges in classroom and non-classroom settings
• Use current research-based, best practices when implementing a program of support
• Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution when needed
• Support students in working towards IEP goals for caseload students
• Provide individual and/or small group support to foster motivation in learning, build confidence, promote self-esteem and teach strategies
• Consult with classroom teachers and school counsellors regarding positive behaviour support plan strategies
• Maintain documentation of daily contacts with caseload students
• Monitor student behaviour through observations over time, making adjustments as needed and documenting observational data.
• Comply with school and ministry policies and procedures
• Maintain detailed records and contribute to student support plans and IEP’s


Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or related field
• Experience working with children in educational or behavioral support settings
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting student success

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Certification in
o Registered Behavior Technician (RBT),
o Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)
o Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Successful candidates should:

  • Hold a valid British Columbia teaching certificate

  • Possess an understanding of and commitment to Christian Education

  • Actively and personally support a Pentecostal/Charismatic statement of faith

  • Be fluent in oral and written English

  • Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively, and be willing to cooperate in the planning and implementation of project based units with the grade team

  • Have experience or willingness to participate in outdoor education planning and trips (i.e. Hiking, canoeing, snowshoeing)

  • Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, grade level core subjects (Faith and Learning, Literacy, Numeracy, Science, and Social Studies)

Job Description

Pacific Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and competent individual to join our Before and After School Care (BASC) team. The BASC Worker will provide a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for students outside regular school hours. We are committed to developing a high-quality program with a creative, friendly team that works collaboratively to support our students.

Duties:

  • Supervise and engage with students during before and after school care hours.

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities.

  • Lead and direct group activities, using appropriate guiding and caring techniques for school-aged children.

  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students to build positive relationships and ensure clear understanding

  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and appropriate behavior of all students in the program.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe space in accordance with school policies and health and safety regulations.

Scheduled Hours:

Candidates may choose to work during school days, non-school days, or both, with options for mornings, afternoons, or a combination of both.

School Days:

  • 6:45 AM - 8:30 AM

  • 7:30 AM - 8:15 AM

  • 2:30 PM - 5:30 PM

  • 2:45 Pm - 5:45 PM

Non-School Days:

  • 6:45 AM - 10:45 AM

  • 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM

  • 10:45 AM - 5:00 PM

  • 2:00 PM - 5:45 PM


Job Requirements

  • Support a Pentecostal/Charismatic statement of faith and participate in a local church

  • Responsible Adult certification (20 hours of courses related to childcare)

  • Emergency First Aid CPR/AED Level C (Current certification required)

  • Valid Criminal Record Check • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an asset

  • Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting is preferred
