At HCOS, our Education Assistants (EAs) are independent contractors who are resourceful and innovative educators, providing student support to Home Learners within the Inclusive Education Department.

Position Expectations

The Special Education Teacher will:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with exceptionalities

  • Work closely with classroom teachers, educational assistants, and parents to support diverse learners

  • Use evidence-based strategies to provide direct support and differentiated instruction

  • Foster a nurturing and respectful environment that reflects Christian values

  • Maintain open, ongoing communication with staff and families

  • Be legally eligible to work in Canada and hold (or be eligible for) BC teacher certification, with specialization or training in special education
