Job Description
The Position:
We are looking for Education Assistants – Developmental Support to provide one-on-one student support for the 2026-27 school year! These are on-site, full-time or part-time positions provide one-on-one support to students with high/complex support needs. EAs provide program support, behaviour and academic interventions, and encouragement to promote student success based on a student’s individualized goals.
As the Education Assistant – Developmental Support your duties and responsibilities will include:
Provide for the social, spiritual, emotional, physical and academic learning needs of the students
Provide respectful assistance with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, and dressing as required.
Support the student’s safe mobility and physical needs throughout the school day, including transitions between spaces and activities.
Assist with communication and engagement
Implement individualized behavioural and developmental support strategies in collaboration with teachers and the Inclusive Education team.
Support the student in developing self-regulation, communication, and social interaction skills.
Assist the student in participating in classroom routines, learning activities, and transitions throughout the school day.
Provide structured support and proactive strategies to reduce barriers to learning and participation.
Collect observations and share relevant information with the support team to help monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed.
Collaborate with teachers, Inclusive Education staff, and families to support the student’s individualized goals and well-being.
Maintain a calm, supportive environment that promotes safety, positive behaviour, and student dignity
Communicate regularly with staff regarding the student’s needs and participate in relevant meetings or training.
Job Requirements
We are looking for someone who has the following qualities:
Background working in Education, EA Support, Behaviour Intervention, or with children/youth
Professionals with non-EA specific credentials are encouraged to also apply (psychology, behaviour analysis, social work, coaching, mathematics, etc)
A valid Certified Educational Assistant certificate (or training in process) is considered an asset
Subject matter knowledge in the applicable grade level or willingness to learn
