Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic Education Assistant to work with a Grade 3 student in the family home. This is a 30 hour/week contract position that may grow in hours over the course of the school year, depending on student needs and EA skillsets. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, comfortable working closely with a family in their home, and excited to support a student with complex learning and physical needs.

Grades: 3
Schedule: 30 hours per week during school hours (Monday-Friday)
As the Education Assistant your duties and responsibilities will include:
Supporting the social, spiritual, behavioural, and learning needs of a student, providing mentorship to the whole person.
Participating in weekly therapy sessions (including PT) and completing assigned daily exercises as directed.
Assisting with mobility equipment, personal care and physical positioning.
Supporting the student in the community, including outings, appointments, and recreational activities (ex. swimming).
Patiently repeating daily routines and skill-building activities over long periods with minimal immediate progress.
Collaborating with the Case Manager and the parent to support personalized learning opportunities.
Assisting in carrying out IEP goals, working alongside the broader student support team.
Job Requirements
We are looking for someone with the following qualities:
Background working in Education, EA Support, Behaviour Intervention, or with children/youth.
Professionals with non-EA specific credentials are encouraged to also apply (e.g., psychology, behaviour analysis, social work, nursing, etc.).
A valid Certified Educational Assistant certificate (or training in process) is considered an asset.
Physically able to assist with student mobility, positioning, and use of mobility equipment.
Willingness to learn hand-under-hand ASL and communication strategies.
Willingness to participate in training such as the POP-DB Deafblind Intervention Program.
Willingness to learn and take direction (this role will involve ongoing training and support).
Demonstrates alignment with our Biblical Attributes & a commitment to, and a lifestyle reflective of, the KCCS Foundational Beliefs.
Technologically proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.
A valid Class 5 driver’s license, and openness to driving to community outings and therapy appointments scheduled during service hour.
