Job Description
We are seeking one or two Education Assistants to work on-site one day per week in our Nanaimo Community Connections class for the 2026/27 school year. This is a part-time contract position that may grow in hours over the course of the school year, depending on student needs and EA skillsets.
Location: Nanaimo, BC
Grades: 4/5 class, 6-8 class or 9-12 class
Schedule: Wednesdays, 8:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Hours: 6-15 hours per week
As the Education Assistant your duties and responsibilities will include:
Supporting the social, spiritual and academic learning needs of students, providing mentorship to the whole person
Connecting with students individually or in small groups
Collaborating with the teaching staff and the parent to support personalized learning opportunities
Assisting in carrying out IEP goals, working alongside the broader student support team
Job Requirements
We are looking for someone with the following qualities:
Background working in Education, EA Support, Behaviour Intervention, or with children/youth
Professionals with non-EA specific credentials are encouraged to also apply (e.g., psychology, behaviour analysis, social work, coaching, mathematics, etc.)
A valid Certified Educational Assistant certificate (or training in process) is considered an asset
Subject matter knowledge in the applicable grade levels or willingness to learn
