Job Description

We are seeking one or two Education Assistants to work on-site one day per week in our Nanaimo Community Connections class for the 2026/27 school year. This is a part-time contract position that may grow in hours over the course of the school year, depending on student needs and EA skillsets.

Location: Nanaimo, BC
Grades: 4/5 class, 6-8 class or 9-12 class
Schedule: Wednesdays, 8:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Hours: 6-15 hours per week

As the Education Assistant your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the social, spiritual and academic learning needs of students, providing mentorship to the whole person

  • Connecting with students individually or in small groups

  • Collaborating with the teaching staff and the parent to support personalized learning opportunities

  • Assisting in carrying out IEP goals, working alongside the broader student support team


Job Requirements

We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Background working in Education, EA Support, Behaviour Intervention, or with children/youth

  • Professionals with non-EA specific credentials are encouraged to also apply (e.g., psychology, behaviour analysis, social work, coaching, mathematics, etc.)

  • A valid Certified Educational Assistant certificate (or training in process) is considered an asset

  • Subject matter knowledge in the applicable grade levels or willingness to learn
