Job Description

Campbell River Christian School is looking for a Music/Band Teacher who is able to teach Grades K-5 Music and Grades 6-12 Bands. Additional opportunities may be available to teach other qualified courses.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate’s qualifications/skills will include, but are not limited to:

  • Valid BC Professional Teaching certificate

  • Undergraduate degree in Music and/or successful teaching experience in Elementary choral & general music training as well as Band programs for Gr.6-12 (Beg/Int/Sr Band, Concert Band, Chapel Band)

  • Experience as a teacher in ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE YEARS, and HIGH SCHOOL and/or working with children aged 5-18 years old

  • Demonstration of excellent teaching practices using current pedagogical best practices and the BC Proficiency Scale of Assessment

  • Strong formative and summative assessment practices

  • Excellent understanding of and experience working with diverse students including those on IEPs by using various teaching strategies and differentiated instruction

  • Experience and ease using technology (e.g. computers, ProPresenter software, audio/visual software & equipment)

  • Possession of excellent listening and communication skills

  • Ability to work closely with staff in a team approach

  • Ability to integrate a Biblical worldview as well as Indigenous perspectives into lessons

  • Demonstration of excellent classroom management skills

  • Evidence of a strong understanding of and support for Christian education

  • A strong personal commitment to the Christian faith and the Statements of Faith as outlined in the school’s faith statements as well as the statements of faith as outlined by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)
