Position Overview:
Calgary Christian School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Chaplain to serve our Middle and High School students (Grades 7–12). The Chaplain plays a vital role in teaching and nurturing the spiritual life of the school community, walking alongside students in their faith journeys, and providing pastoral care and guidance. This individual will have a deep love for Jesus Christ, a heart for youth, and a strong commitment to fostering a Christ-centered environment where students are encouraged to grow spiritually, intellectually, artistically, emotionally, socially, and physically. The Chaplain will also be responsible for teaching Grades 10 – 12 Faith Formation classes.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare captivating Grades 10 – 12 Bible instruction, execute lessons that meet
the learning outcomes, and provide accurate assessment for student growthLead outreach events within and outside of the school
Plan and lead chapel services, devotions, Faith Clubs, and spiritual formation
opportunitiesOffer mentorship, discipleship, and one-on-one support for students
Support students through social, emotional, and spiritual challenges
Collaborate with teachers and administration to integrate faith into school life
and Alberta CurriculumBuild strong relationships with local churches and community organizations
Participate in school events, retreats, and mission opportunities
Care for our students, staff and society as a whole
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in theology, Biblical Studies, Ministry, or a related field
Bachelor of Education / valid Alberta Teaching certification is preferred
Experience in youth ministry or chaplaincy (school or community setting
preferred)Strong understanding of adolescent development and the social/emotional
needs of students in Grades 7–12Demonstrate a strong ability to connect with and inspire youth as well as the
staff as a wholeExcellent communication, relational, and pastoral care skills
Required Certification & Training:
Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
Training in Safe Church / Safe Ministry practices
Standard First Aid
