School Counsellor – 1.0 FTE Continuing Position

Pacific Academy is seeking applications from qualified individuals for a School Counsellor position commencing August 22, 2024.

The School Counsellor is expected to:

  • Work collaboratively with students, their families, teachers, administrators, and community agencies to develop effective strategies in promoting the educational, social, emotional development of students;

  • Act as an advocate for children and their families and participate as an active member of the School-Based-Team;

  • Provide direct counseling and/or intervention to students to support mental health and wellbeing;

  • Collaborate with Teachers, fellow Counsellors, school Psychologist and school staff to provide supports and effective strategies in promoting safe, caring, and healthy school environments;

  • Be familiar with the Ministry of Education and Childcare Special Education Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines manual;

  • Case manage/oversee IEPs for H & R designated students and assist with Level B testing, conduct risk assessment and behavioural screening tools with students as required;

  • Support social emotional learning (SEL) in classrooms through consultation, collaboration and direct in-class teaching;

Qualifications:

Successful candiates should:

  • Have a master's degree in counselling psychology or a related discipline with a focus on counselling. Membership in the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and /or being a Registered Clinical Counselor (RCC) is preferred;

  • Have teaching and/or counselling experience;

  • Possess professional teaching certification;

Qualifications:

Communications Officer

Pacific Academy is seeking a team member to lead the development and implementation of Communications and Alumni Engagement. This is a 0.8 to 1.0 FTE, year-round position. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to Christian values, and a proven track record in coordinating alumni initiatives. Responsibilities include connecting with alumni, organizing events and growing partnerships.

This posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and designs social media communications to the PA Community

  • Develops, coordinates and evaluates programs and projects to promote alumni engagement

  • Plans, coordinates, and attends events, meetings, or other activities

  • Identifies, cultivates, and stewards alumni and volunteers. Helps current volunteer base identify potential new volunteers and future leadership.

  • Collaborates with other staff on programs which engage alumni through multiple channels 

  • Coordinates and produces reports, proposals, and analyses for management including post-event reports and recommendations.

  • Collaborates and communicates with Pacific Academy staff to share information on events and alumni engagement opportunities.

  • Coordinates and trains volunteers who work on events, projects and programs.

  • Represents Pacific Academy at various community and/or business meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs.

  • Serves on committees relating to alumni engagement, and serves as liaison between PA and the community.

  • May supervise and train staff, student employees, volunteers, and/or interns, as appropriate.

Requirements for Position:

Candidates must:

  • Have at least 2 years or equivalent experience directly related to the duties and responsibilites specified

  • Support a Pentecostal / Charismatic statement of faith and participate in a local church

  • Provide a current Criminal Record Check

  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Possess competence in Microsoft Office Suites and/or Google Suites

  • Have strong organizational, prioritization and multitasking skills

Pay Range: Based on the depth and relevance of work experience, qualifications, skillset, the FTE the range for this position is $75,000-$90,000.

The Head of Student Support & Well-being will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive, school-wide inclusive education programme including learning support and counselling services.

House Manager

Pacific Academy is requesting applications from qualified individuals for the position of House Manager. The House Manager is responsible for the operation of the facility during a show/event. The House Manager works with clients to ensure the success of the events on the campus of Pacific Academy. This position is casual and intermittent, with work scheduled based on events, primarily during evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Coordinate events from start to finish and oversee event details

  • Direct clients to equipment for event set-up

  • Liaise with clients, staff, technicians, janitors and concession staff

  • Orientate clients and volunteers (ushers, parking attendants, ticket takers and greeters) with building procedures, policies and housekeeping rules and ensure that safety procedures and protocols are followed for the building and patrons

  • Help with staff sign-in, concession, and event reports

  • Oversee First Aid issues
